Whole Farm Approaches to Parasite Prevention and Control on Organic Dairy and Livestock Farms
Wednesday, April 9th, 10:00am to 3:00pm, Vermont Technical College, Randolph
Thursday, April 10th, 10:00am to 3:00pm, Applecheek Farm, Hyde Park
Presented by Dr. Ann Wells, DVM Spring Pond Holistic Animal Health Prairie Grove, Arkansas. A whole-farm management approach is required to control internal parasites in organic livestock. In the absence of chemical controls, keeping organic animals healthy and productive during the grazing season requires a good understanding of parasite-host interactions, grazing management strategies and animal selection. Dr. Wells is a nationally recognized expert and workshop presenter on parasite control and prevention in organic systems. Every grazier of dairy and non-dairy livestock -- organic and conventional -- will benefit from attending this important and very timely workshop.
Lunch will be followed by a Q&A session and discussion with Dr. Wells and livestock producers who have addressed parasitism on their farms - with varying degrees of success. Registration fees are $20 per person. Lunch and refreshments are included with registration. Books from the NOFA Bookstore and resource materials on organic animal health will be available. For more information or to register contact Dave at 802-434-4122 or dave@nofavt.org.
